Mary Wilson, a co-founder of the Supremes, has died.
She was 76.
Her publicist, Jay Schwartz, confirmed her death to the press on Monday evening.
The 76-years-old died at her house in Las Vegas. The circumstances of her death were unknown, the New York times reported.
Mr. Schwartz said the funeral service would be private, and there would be a public memorial later in the year.
Ms. Wilson and her group led the musical charts in the 1990s.
Other original group members include Florence Ballard and Diana Ross as the lead singer, and released hit songs such as ‘Where Did Our Love Go?’ ‘Baby Love,’ ‘Come See About Me,’ and ‘Stop.’
Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown, called Ms. Wilson a “trailblazer” who will be missed.
He said in a statement that the Supremes had opened doors for other Motown acts.
“I was always proud of Mary,” Mr. Gordy said in the statement. “She was quite a star in her own right, and over the years continued to work hard to boost the legacy of the Supremes.”
