Oluwabamise Ayanwola, the 22-year-old lady who was missing for days after boarding a Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) bus, has been found dead, with some parts of her body missing.

On February 26, she boarded a BRT bus with number 240257 at Chevron Bus Stop going to Oshodi around 7:30 pm.

When she became suspicious of the driver’s behaviour, she sent messages to her friend and included details of the bus.

In response, the friend told her to alight at Oworonsoki bus stop, but no one heard from her after that.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Lagos Police Command spokesperson, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said they found the victim’s body at the Carter Bridge by Ogogoro Community, Lagos Island.

The police said her body was deposited at the morgue of the Mainland Hospital, Yaba, for medical autopsy, after it was identified by her family.

The Lagos state police command it was doing everything it can to apprehend the culprits and that the “detectives handling the case would not rest on their oars until her killers are found.”

The police spokesperson assured the bereaved family that it was closing in on the culprits and that “soon the suspects would be arrested and made to face justice for this murderous act.”

Soliciting the cooperation of Lagosians, the police said “anyone with additional information that could help the police in arresting the suspects to kindly oblige us. Such information, we assure, will be treated with utmost confidentiality.”

The driver of the BRT bus, identified as Nice Andrew Omininikoron, and earlier said by the police to be on the run, has now been apprehended, alongside two other suspects.

According to Jubril Gawat, the senior special assistant to the state governor on new media, the police command in Lagos has arrested the bus driver.

“FLASH: The driver of the BRT Bus has been arrested. More Details later. Via Lagos Police Command,” Mr Gawat tweeted.
