The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says it has completed the listing of households in 50 enumeration areas of Edo, ahead of the 2021 Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS 6) in the state.

The NBS coordinator in the state, Frank Obaide, disclosed this on Monday.

The NBS carried out the households’ listing for the survey in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, UNICEF, and other stakeholders.

Mr. Obaide added that the survey was meant to ascertain the mortality rate of children within the 0 to 11 months age bracket and the fertility rate of men and women within the country’s 15 -49 reproductive age bracket.

He described the exercise as essential for an up-to-date frame of households for MICS 6, pointing out that it will help develop needed standard infrastructure for efficient sampling and estimate procedures.

“The objectives of the house listing are to provide summary statistics necessary for the calculation of weight and to identify and listing of structure housing units and householders,” said Mr. Obaide.

He noted that the exercise was conducted within 12 days in the state.
