Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano has charged the the Nigerian Armed Forces to be diligent in combating insecurity and ridding the country of “criminals.”

Mr Ganduje, who was caught in a video published by Daily Nigerian stashing kickback in dollars in his native attire, made this call in Kano on Saturday at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day commemoration.

“Also considering the security challenges we have in the country, this day is important so that our security operatives will take their responsibilities very diligently and very seriously so that we can continue to exist as one nation ridding ourselves of criminals among us,” Mr Ganduje said.

The governor congratulated “the organisers for organising the event for the last seven days and everything is concluded today.

“The importance of this day is to remember those who fought the Nigerian civil war so as to keep Nigeria one. There is no doubt we are benefitting from what they did in the past and therefore it is worthwhile to remember them,” Mr Ganduje said.
