Nigerian content creator and food consultant Munachimso Brian Nwana has set a new Guinness world record for the most fast-food restaurants visited in 24 hours.

Mr Nwana’s achievement, verified by the Guinness World Records (GWR) on Thursday, involved visiting 150 different fast-food establishments, surpassing the previous record of 100 set by American YouTuber Airrack last year.

Before that, the record was held by TikTok stars Nick DiGiovanni and the late Lynn “Lynja” Davis.

What makes Mr Nwana’s accomplishment even more remarkable is that he undertook the challenge in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, a city with fewer clustered restaurants and public transportation systems compared to the bustling streets of New York City, where the previous record attempts were made.

The 22-year-old began his record-breaking attempt at 5:00 p.m. on April 24, starting at Chicken Republic in Gwarinpa, a residential district. He concluded the challenge 24 hours later at the Kilimanjaro fast food chain in the city centre, covering over 25km (15 miles) entirely on foot.

Due to the rules of the record, no private transport could be used, making the attempt especially daunting in Abuja.

Reflecting on the experience, Nwana said, “New York has clusters of restaurants and adequate public transportation systems, so doing this in Abuja was much more daunting and challenging.”

Despite the challenges, Nwana managed to visit all 150 locations and sample food from most of them, with the remaining items shared among his team and passersby.

He hinted at future plans.

“We are not stopping here; we are going to be having a food tour across the different states in Nigeria,” said Nwana.
