NiMet predicts three-day dust haze, thunderstorms from Wednesday

The dust haze and thunderstorms are expected across the country from Wednesday to Friday.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze and thunderstorms from Wednesday to Friday across the country.

NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Tuesday in Abuja, predicted moderate dust haze on Wednesday.

It envisaged horizontal visibility, ranging from 2,000m to 5,000m in the northern region, the North-Central region and the inland cities of the south throughout the forecast period.

The agency forecast coastal cities of the south to be cloudy with chances of a few thunderstorms over parts of Ogun, Lagos, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states later on Wednesday.

“For Thursday, dust haze with improved visibility is expected over the Northern region, throughout the forecast period.

“The North central cities and the inland cities of the South are expected to be in moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility ranging from 2,000m to 5,000m throughout the forecast period.

“Hazy atmospheres with patches of clouds are anticipated over coastal cities of the south within the forecast period.

“There are prospects of a few thunderstorms over parts of Bayelsa, Delta and Cross River states later in the day,” it read.

According to it, a dust haze with good visibility is envisaged over the Northern region, North central region and inland cities of the South throughout the forecast period on Friday.

NiMet anticipates coastal cities of the South to be cloudy with chances of a few thunderstorms over parts of Bayelsa, Delta and Cross River states during the afternoon and evening hours of Friday.
