The council chairperson of Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, Kikelomo Delano, has appealed to traders to desist from displaying goods on the road.

She advised on Sunday, adding that it was to prevent incoming vehicles from ramming into them during the yuletide.

Mrs Delano noted that there is the need to be safety conscious by not allowing anybody to display goods or block the roads to prevent mishaps, especially when there is break failure of vehicles.

“We have seen cases where incoming vehicles rammed into those who displayed goods and wares on the roads due to reckless driving and brake failure.

“So it is not advisable to allow anybody to block the roads because it is very dangerous and can sometimes result in unnecessary loss of lives,” she said.

The chairperson added that motorists would not be able to experience the free flow of traffic when goods were displayed on the highways, thus making people spend more hours in traffic gridlocks.

Mrs Delano called on Ifo residents to regularly pay their taxes to increase the provision of infrastructure in the area.

She said that officials of the council are working tirelessly on ways to improve the Internally Generated Revenue to deliver better dividends of democracy to the people.
