The Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Dele Ologun, has decried high rate of drug abuse, cultisim and other criminal activities in the state.

Mr Ologun, while addressing journalists on Monday in Akure, said the increasing rate of anti-social activities such as drug abuse and cultism in the state was worrisome.

He made reference to the latest incident in the state in which a student died at Agolo High School, Ikare Akoko, during the inter-house sports competition of the school.

He called on the police and the National Drugs and Law Enforcement Agency to intensify efforts at curbing the menace.

It would be recalled that two rival cult groups on March 10 engaged each other in a battle at the school premises during the sport competition which resulted in the death of the student.

“Our institutions are places of learning and sporting activities should not be used as a tool to perpetrate violence in the state.

“There is the need for all security and law enforcement agencies in the state to ensure that there is drastic reduction of anti social activities amongst students in the state,” he said.
