The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it has deployed no fewer than 100 personnel, special marshals, three patrol vehicles, and one ambulance for the yuletide Special Patrol on Ore-Benin Expressway.

Sikiru Alonge, the FRSC unit commander in Ore, disclosed this on Monday in Ore, Ondo.

Mr Alonge said the deployment would ensure a free flow of traffic and the safety of lives and property on the expressway before, during, and after the yuletide.

He also mentioned that the special patrol, which began on December 17, will end on January 15, 2022.

The FRSC personnel and special marshals were deployed in Ajebandele-Ore, Ore, Ore-Ondo, Ore-Benin, and Ore-Okitipupa axis, etc., to ensure hitch-free traffic.

“The yuletide is around the corner, and that is why we are deploying over 100 personnel, special marshals, three patrol vehicles, and one ambulance on the Ore-Benin expressway in order to save lives and property,” added Mr Alonge. “Our team will ensure that motorists comply with all traffic rules and regulations in order to minimise crashes as a result of traffic laws violations.”

He further noted that motorists should avoid speeding, desist from overloading their vehicles with passengers and goods.

“We also warn commercial drivers who have turned the Ore flyover to their motor parks to desist from these acts as we will arrest drivers and impound vehicles who run foul of all traffic rules and regulations,” Mr Alonge further stated.

The FRSC official urged motorists to ensure that their vehicles are always roadworthy before putting them on the road and avoid night travels, which could attract security risks.
