A man, Ahmed Saka, has killed his estranged lover, Mutiat Oladele, her two children, and himself in what could be described as a crime of passion.

The killing took place on Wednesday night at Shogoye, Idi-Arere area of Ibadan.

It was gathered that Ms Mutiat and Mr Saka were lovers before their relationship went sour.

Mr Saka had allegedly threatened to kill himself and Ms Mutiat for ending their relationship.

Three other children suffered burns in the attack.

The children are currently receiving treatment at Anglican Diocese Hospital, Molete.

The man later died in the aftermath of the arson, according to the police.

In Ibadan, the police spokesman, Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the incident on Thursday in a telephone interview with NAN.

“They are concubines. The man set the house of his ex-lover ablaze because the woman said she was no longer interested in the relationship.

“The woman and her two children died as a result of the incident.

“The man who set the house ablaze died later while three other children sustained injury and are being treated at the hospital,” said Mr Fadeyi.

Mr Fadeyi said further investigation was ongoing.
