Police deploy tactical units to maintain peace ahead of Buhari’s visit to Yola

Mr Buhari is travelling to Yola to condole with the family and people of Adamawa over the demise of top bureaucrat Ahmed Joda.

As President Muhammadu Buhari visits Yola, Adamawa State on Friday, the state police command says all preparations are in top gear to ensure a hitch-free occasion.

Police spokesman in Adamawa, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, in a statement on Thursday in Yola, said substantial police personnel, together with other security assets have been deployed across the state.

He advised officers to display a high level of professionalism and operate within the context of the law during the visit.

“The command has prepared to deploy its men for surveillance and confidence boosting patrols to maintain public order.

“It has also ordered the deployment of additional operational assets including police surveillance and operational teams, Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit and Crowd/Traffic Control Units,” he said.

He said police and other security agencies would be working in synergy towards ensuring law and order during the visit.

Mr Nguroje however called on members of the public to coordinate themselves and cooperate with security agents in the course of discharging their constitutional duty.
