Release of 30 FGC Yauri students six months after abduction “success” of Buhari regime: Gov. Bagudu

The governor also thanked “all security agencies and those who have helped in securing the release.”

Governor Atiku Bagudu has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for the release of 30 abducted students of Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri in Kebbi State, after spending six months in captivity.

In a statement by his special adviser on media, Yahaya Sarki, on Saturday, the governor congratulated Mr Buhari, describing the student’s release as a “success”.

“Today, Saturday 8th January 2022, 30 students of Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, and one teacher have arrived Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State capital, following their release,” Mr Bagudu was quoted as saying.

“We thank all security agencies and those who have helped in securing the release, while congratulating Mr President, Muhammadu Buhari, for the success,” he said.

Mr Bagudu said the released students will undergo medical care before being reunited with their families.

In July 2020, Peoples Gazette reported how the students were abducted. It, however, took six months for the Buhari regime to secure their release, even though Mr Buhari has always praised his regime’s efforts in combating insecurity.

Earlier in the week, armed bandits raided some communities in Zamfara state, killing over 200 citizens while torching several properties.

However, after the raid, Mr Buhari urged affected communities to exercise patience as his regime works to tackle increasing insecurity in the country.
