Natalia Osipova, a principal dancer at London’s Royal Ballet, has released a collection of ballet NFTs, the first of its kind in the world.

The collection of ballet non-fungible tokens features two video clips from Ms Osipova’s performance of classical ballet Giselle and one from the contemporary duet, Left Behind.

“NFTs have shaken up the world of art, particularly over the last year, and I realised they could also broaden ballet’s appeal and reach,” Ms Osipova said to The Guardian.

The pieces will be sold at international auction house Bonhams as part of its collection Encore! Modern Art on Stage which opened for bids on Monday.

Bids for Giselle starts at £3,000, while Left Behind’s starting bids are pegged at £8,000.

The collection is named Natalia Osipova: Triptych, and will be auctioned by Bonhams on December 10.

Peoples Gazette reported in November that the combined market cap value of non-fungible tokens collections hit a total of $10.2 billion.

The sales of non-fungible tokens have climbed this year as the virtual space receives more attention and acceptance.
