Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed Dr. Folayinka Dania as the acting Chief Resilience Officer of the Lagos State Resilience Office.

Ms. Dania, until her new appointment, was the Deputy Chief Resilience Officer of the agency.

Her elevation, according to a statement by the Lagos government, obtained by Peoples Gazette, was consequent upon the appointment of the erstwhile Chief Resilience Officer, Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, as the General Manager of Lagos State Building Control Agency.

However, the Gazette observed that LASRO’s website still portrayed Mr. Oki as the agency’s head and Ms. Dania, his deputy.

A letter signed by the state’s Head of Service, Hakeem Muri- Okunola, said, “In approving your appointment, due cognisance has been taken of your record of impressive performance.

“I, therefore, have no doubt that you will bring your wealth of experience to bear on the mandate of the Lagos State Resilience Office and that you could continue to justify the confidence reposed in you by Mr. Governor,” Muri-Okunola stated.

Ms. Dania, an experienced medical professional, had also served in the Directorate of Disease Control, Lagos State Ministry of Health, where she worked implementing the malaria elimination programme of Lagos.

The LASRO was inaugurated in April 2019, in partnership with the Rockefeller Foundation via the 100 Resilient Cities (100RC) programme.

LASRO is considered a multidisciplinary unit, tasked with developing a ‘City Resilience Strategy,’ as a “requisite framework to strengthen the capacity of individuals, communities, businesses, institutions, and systems within the state to survive, adapt and grow in the face of all forms of chronic stresses and acute shocks.
