Security has been beefed up in Benin ahead of the 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) closing ceremony on Wednesday evening.

This is seen in an increase in security personnel’s presence, though the News Agency of Nigeria could not get the actual figures.

The security measure may not be unconnected with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who is to declare the festival closed.

A NAN correspondent who monitored the town’s situation reported that security personnel were strategically positioned along Airport Road and Akenzuwa Road. These roads lead to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, the venue of the closing ceremony.

The security operatives were in front of Golf road junction, off Airport road, which leads to the Government House. They are also stationed at Akenzua and Stadium roads.

Though there has been security personnel’s presence since the festival’s commencement on April 2, Wednesday’s situation is different.

Nigerian artistes, Franchise, Joeboy, and Teni, have been lined up to spice up the closing ceremony of the 20th NSF from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The 20th NSF, which had suffered several postponements, finally got underway on April 2, with the official opening ceremony held on April 6.
