The State Security Services (SSS) says it will probe the attack on Vanguard photojournalist, Oluwagbemiga Olamikan, by its personnel, during the trial of 12 detained associates of Yoruba Nation activist Sunday ‘Igboho’ Adeyemo, brought to court on Monday.

Peter Afunanya, public relations officer of the SSS, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja.

In the statement, Mr Afunanya said the secret police was a responsible security organisation, and cannot succeed without help from the media.

Peoples Gazette reported how SSS operatives, preventing journalists from taking pictures and making video recordings of Igboho’s associates, confiscated Mr Olamikan’s phone.

It took the intervention of other journalists at the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court before the officer in mufti returned Mr Olamikan’s phone about an hour later.
