The presidency has raised the alarm of possible terrorist attack in Abuja during the festive period.

Nigerian Immigration Service disclosed this in a letter dated December 23, 2021, and signed by Land Border Patrol Commander, Edirin Okoto.

Titled “Terrorists Plan Attacks in Abuja”, the letter read that “The Office of the Ag CGI is in receipt of a security report (urgent) from the Presidency (OSGF). The import is about a looming attack on Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, between 17th and 31st December, 2021.”

In October, the Niger state government raised alarm that 500 communities domiciled in eight political wards in the state are under the command of Boko Haram terrorists who have dislodged the Nigerian civil authority.

Niger state shares boundary with Abuja the seat of power, where bandits in November raided the University of Abuja and abducted six persons.

Peoples Gazette reported how armed robbers attacked the house of Ibrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, right in the Aso Villa, exposing how insecure the seat of power has become.

Garba Shehu, spokesperson for Mr Buhari, confirmed the attack on Mr Gambari’s house but claimed that the robbery attack was unsuccessful.
