Three die as truck crashes into residential building in Ijebu Ode

Three people have been confirmed dead in a road accident that occurred on Monday in Ijebu- Ode, Ogun State.

Opeoluwa Adekoya, Head of Operations, Ijebu Ode Division of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), said that the accident occurred around 3:00 p.m. at Imepe area of the ancient town.

Mr Adekoya explained that a Mack truck, loaded with granite, which had no registration number, lost control due to speeding and hit a commercial motorcycle, crashing into a residential building.

He said that three persons, a male, a female and a minor died in the accident.

“The corpses of the victims have been deposited at the morgue of Ijebi-Ode General Hospital,” he said.

Mr Adekoya admonished truck drivers against reckless driving and speeding that could lead to unnecessary loss of lives.

He further enjoined truck owners to always ensure that their vehicles were properly serviced before putting them on the road to avoid mishaps.
