Weather Outlook: Sunny, hazy atmosphere in North, cloudy, sunny conditions in South

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted haziness and sunshine from Friday to Sunday.

NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Thursday in Abuja, predicted dust haze conditions with visibility range from two kilometres to five kilometres on Friday.

The agency further predicted localised visibility of less than or equal to 1000m over the northern region throughout the forecast period.

According to the agency, the North-Central part of the country is expected to be in a sunny and hazy atmosphere throughout the forecast period.

It anticipated partly cloudy to sunny conditions over the inland cities of the South throughout the forecast period.

NiMet envisaged partly cloudy to cloudy skies over the coastal cities during the morning hours.

It further envisaged chances of thunderstorms over parts of Bayelsa, Delta, Ogun, Edo, Rivers and Lagos states.

“For Saturday, dust haze conditions are expected over the northern region throughout the forecast period.

“Sunny to hazy conditions are envisaged over the North Central region.

“Inland cities of the South are expected to be partly cloudy to sunny conditions throughout the forecast period.

“Partly cloudy to cloudy skies are envisaged over coastal cities during the morning hours,’’ it said.

However, the agency said there are chances of thunderstorms over parts of Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River and Rivers later in the day.

NiMet predicted dust haze conditions over the northern region throughout the forecast period on Sunday.

It said sunny to hazy conditions were envisaged over the north-central region.

The agency predicted inland cities of the South to be in partly cloudy to sunny conditions throughout the forecast period.

It forecast partly cloudy to cloudy skies over the coastal cities during the morning hours.

“Later in the day, there are chances of thunderstorms over parts of Lagos, Delta, Edo and Rivers,’’ the agency added.
