Weather Outlook: Thunderstorms, cloudiness expected from Saturday

The agency forecast rains over Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, Ondo, Cross River, Lagos and Rivers later in the day.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and cloudy weather conditions from Saturday to Monday across the country.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Friday in Abuja predicted thunderstorms over parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Adamawa, Katsina, Borno, Bauchi, Kaduna, Yobe and Taraba states in the morning hours of Saturday.

It also predicted thunderstorms over parts of

Bauchi; Taraba; Adamawa; Gombe; Yobe; Katsina; Kano; Borno and Kaduna states later in the day.

“Cloudy skies are envisaged over the North-Central region with prospects of rains over the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Kwara, Benue and Kogi during the morning hours.

“Later in the day, isolated rains are expected over parts of Niger, Kwara, Nasarawa, Federal Capital Territory and Plateau in the afternoon and evening periods.

“The Inland and Coastal cities of the South are expected to remain cloudy with chances of morning rains over parts of Ebonyi, Oyo, Ondo, Delta, Edo, Osun, Cross River and Lagos state,“ it said.

The agency forecast rains over Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, Ondo, Cross River, Lagos and Rivers later in the day.

NiMet envisaged partly cloudy to cloudy skies to prevail over the northern region during the morning hours with chances of thunderstorms over parts of Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Yobe and Bauchi states on Sunday.

It, however, anticipated thunderstorms over parts of Kano, Katsina, Bauchi, Gombe, , Borno, Yobe and Taraba states during the afternoon/evening hours.

The agency predicted cloudy skies over the North central region with chances of rains over parts of Kwara and Federal Capital Territory during the morning hours.

“In the afternoon and evening hours, isolated rains are anticipated over parts of Plateau, Kwara, Federal Capital Territory and Benue state.

“Cloudy skies should prevail over the Southern region with prospects of early morning rains over parts of Bayelsa, Osun, Oyo, Edo, Ondo and Cross River state.

“ Later in the day, rains are expected over parts of Anambra, Ondo, Ado, Umuahia, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Enugu,” it said.

According to the agency, cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are anticipated over the northern cities during the morning hours on Monday.

It, however, predicted localised thunderstorms over parts of Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto and Zamfara state during the afternoon and evening hours.

NiMet forecast cloudy skies to prevail over the North central region during the morning hours.

The agency further forecast rains over parts of Niger and the Federal Capital Territory.

It anticipated cloudy skies over the South during the morning hours later in the day,

The agency envisaged rains over parts of the southern region such as; Osun, Delta, Abakaliki, Lagos and Rivers.
