‘What’s working in Nigeria?’ ask celebrities amid ASUU strike, fuel scarcity, national grid collapse

As Nigerians battle these myriads of challenges, even the celebrities have begun groaning.

Nigerian celebrities on Wednesday expressed displeasure over the country’s deplorable state of affairs, ranging from the ASUU strike, the collapse of the national power grid, fuel scarcity, and worsening insecurity.

The nation’s power grid collapsed on Monday amid severe fuel scarcity that has disrupted economic and social activities in the past five weeks.

Also, ASUU declared a roll-over strike for another two months after the expiration of its initial one-month strike on March 14.

As Nigerians battle these myriads of challenges, even the celebrities have begun groaning.

Mr P of PSquare took to Twitter to question the country’s woes.

“Please can someone tell me one thing that is truly Working in Nigeria?🤮👎🏾……… #2023ElectionsWeMustGetSense” the singer tweeted.

On the ongoing ASUU strike, rapper Rugged Man suggested that the funds linked to the bank accounts of disgraced police officer Abba Kyari and his accomplices should be paid to the union as part of its demands.

“Can the N4.2 billion found inside DCP Abba Kyari & his accomplices’ bank accounts be paid to ASUU to go back to classrooms immediately?” he said.

On her part, actress Rita Dominic questioned politicians’ strategy of enlisting internet trolls to discredit and insult critics of President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime.

“What’s happening? Someone complains about electricity or water or education, similar-looking accounts will rush to the tweet to insult them. Is that the new strategy to win the election?” she wrote on Twitter.

Also, in a series of tweets, songstress Simi dropped her two cents on the stifling effect of the country.

“I think the most dangerous thing about Naija is that it has killed too many dreams,” she tweeted.

This, according to her, was because the nation was not conducive for an average person to dream.

“For every one person that is living their dreams, there’re thousands just trying not to die… I wish our leaders would actually settle down and think about how their choices not only affect the economy, and other obvious sectors of the country but also how it’s destroying our potential for a great future,” she stated.
