Popular American rapper, Nicki Minaj, has declared Wizkid’s “Essence” a global hit song, admitting that the song deserves a place in the Grammy’s song of the year category.

During an interview with American on air personality Joe Budden, the female rapper agreed that the viral hit song deserved to be Grammy’s song of the year.

Joe insisted that there is a need to have competent Grammy board members who could clearly see that “Essence” was definitely the song of the year.

“We need people in the Grammy board that knows “Essence” was song of the year”, Joe insisted, and Nick Minaj concurred firmly saying “Right”.

Wizkid’s Essence, featuring Nigerian fast rising artists Tems, has topped most musical charts across the world since its release on October 30, 2020.

The “global anthem” bagged two Grammy nominations, best global music performance and global music album.

However, Nicki Minaj and many others insist the song should have featured in a more prestigious category.

“You wanna know what’s so funny? We should have our own Grammy board”, she added.
