Yobe College of Education provost dies

The provost died from injuries sustained in a car accident on October 4.

The provost of Umar Suleiman College of Education, Gashua, Mohammad Gishiwa, is dead.

Mr Gishiwa, 53, died on Sunday while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Kano, following injuries sustained in a car accident on October 4.

His death was confirmed by the deputy provost of the college, Hassan Bulama, on Monday.

Mr Bulama said that the deceased would be buried at about 2:00 p.m. in Gashua.

A brother to the deceased, Ali Gishiwa, said that arrangements were on to convey the remains of the deceased to Gashua for burial.

Mr Gishiwa was appointed provost in 2016, and he was serving his second tenure at the time of his death.
