Hamdok arrives in Juba

JUBA – Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok has arrived in the South Sudanese capital Juba this afternoon ahead of the signing ceremony of the Sudanese peace agreement which is due for tomorrow, Sudan’s official Sudan News Agency (SUNA), reports.

This morning, Hamdok left the capital Khartoum for Juba, saying he was “heading to Juba today to attend the signing ceremony for the end of the first phase of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement with our comrades in the armed struggle movements, and to discuss the beginning of the second phase.”

The SUNA reported that the Sudanese Premier arrived this afternoon at Juba airport where he was welcomed by South Sudan’s Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs Tutkew Gatluak who is also the chief mediator in the Sudanese peace talks.

“He was received at Juba International Airport, by South Sudan president’s security advisor, Tut Gatluak, who is also the chief negotiator for the Sudanese peace talks as well as a number of government official in the state of South Sudan,” the SUNA report reads in part.

The prime minister was accompanied by ministers of Cabinet Affairs, Defense, Labor and Social Development, Youth and Sports, and the acting minister of foreign affairs.
