JUBA – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit and his internal security chief General Akol Koor Kuc have reportedly agreed to resolve differences and end what has been termed as “misunderstanding” which is threatening the relative peace inside the capital Juba.

According to the independent Nyamilepedia website, the South Sudanese president met with the Director of Internal Security Bureau (ISB) on Sunday in J1 under the auspices of the Jieng Council of Elders and agreed to end unfolding differences.

“The meeting that was hosted by the JCE of elders yesterday on Sudan has convinced his excellency the president of the Republic of South Sudan to keep General Akol Koor to maintain his position as the NSS director until 2023,” Nyamilepedia reported quoting an unidentified source who attended the meeting in Juba.

The meeting, the Nyamilepedia reported, was convened between the two men after differences appears to deepen over suspicion from Kiir that Akol Koor may be working to replace him.

In June, Akol Koor opened a private airstrip in his home village of Awul in Tonj raising questions behind the motive.
