“If we are ‘at peace,’ why does the armed conflict persist?”
When I went back to Cagayan de Oro, I recalled our visits to Camps Abubakar and Darapanan. It made me believe that the current situation there showed proof that peace is possible even after an intense battle. It made me also think that a similar success may be possible for a group that has been continuing its armed resistance. I hope the Philippine government will consider the resumption of the peace process with the Communist Party of the Philippines, the New People’s Army, and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines.
“It should have engaged with peace advocates and considered the resumption of peace talks with the CPP-NPA-NDF as a better alternative and correct approach in addressing the armed conflict.” CAGAYAN DE ORO – A thorough probe has been ensured after the missing...
De Lima said that the arbitrary detention of their consultants is part of a string of “blatant violations” by the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) of the Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees (JASIG) it signed with the NDFP in 1995.
Detained National Democratic Front of the Philippines peace consultants welcome reported dialogues to revive stalled formal peace negotiations with the Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Government of the Republic of the Philippines, expressing hope to join the talks if efforts succeed.
Various groups expressed support for the possible resumption of formal peace talks between the Philippine government and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines.
In the last six years since former President Rodrigo Duterte terminated the peace talks with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, their peace consultants, including those who publicly participated in the peace process, were subjected to a series of bloody and vicious attacks.
The document said both parties agree to a principled and peaceful resolution of the nearly 55-year old armed conflict.

It has been more than a week since Ferdinand Marcos Jr., son, and namesake of the late dictator, was inaugurated. But prospects for peace remain uncertain with the newly-installed administration neither having a peace adviser nor a clear stance on how it will proceed with the peace process.
Xandra Bisenio, daughter of detained peace consultant Rey Casambre, said the next president should address the root causes of the armed conflict.
"ATC's terrorist designation is just another nefarious device concocted by those who reckon they can and must go around or against the Constitution and the rules of law, fair play and common decency to silence those who speak and clamor for change.”

Mula pa noong panahon ng pananakop ng mga Espanyol, hanggang sa kasalukuyan, nabibigo ang mga usapang pangkapayapaan dahil hindi nito tinutugunan ang dahilan ng pagrerebelyon ng mga tao.
“If there’s an opportunity [for peace talks to continue], we will support it,” Bisenio told Bulatlat in an interview. “But we also know that the AFP [Armed Forces of the Philippines] is hell-bent on continuing its militarist approach,”

This is enough for a government that is provisionally hijacked by compradors and imperialists to talk peace and reforms.
“The Duterte regime remains on a fascist rampage that adds more and more obstacles to the resumption of the peace negotiations with the NDFP."
The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army finally surfaced National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) peace consultant Francisco “Ka Frank” Fernandez after arresting him early Sunday morning and denying he was in their custody to human rights responders.
