High containment curbs and channels offer passive traffic control and deterrent vehicle overriding. They can also be used to protect vulnerable streets installations like bus stops. The Titan kerb's high containment Titan kerb measures 400mm in height and helps to delineate between trafficked and not-trafficked areas. These kerbs act as passive pedestrian refuges.
Road kerbs are used to preserve the carriageway edge of roads and act as physical barriers between pedestrians, cars and traffic. They also allow for surface water drainage. Road kerbs can be made from many materials. Granite, a natural stone, was popular fifty-years ago. But pre-cast concrete has replaced it. Pre-cast concrete and steel kerbs have become very popular in high-traffic areas such as motorways. Both pre-cast and extruded kerbs are available in a range of colors and designs.
Precast channels and stones are strong and easy to maintain. They can last for many decades and are easy to put in. They are ideal for bridges or roads because they can withstand many threats. They are strong enough to support heavy loads. Precast concrete channel kerbs, and channels are a great choice when projects require road infrastructure.
To support kerbs, hunching concrete is used. Concrete also serves the purpose of supporting kerbs and holding them in place. Concrete is often used to place haunching concrete. Concrete is placed in a trench to support the kerbstone. After being poured, the concrete is allowed to set for between four and seven days before it is removed. The kerbs will be laid, and then backfilling can begin.
Modern drainage kerbs/channels need to be able withstand high loads. This is why we propose a lab-based assessment of typical recycled plastic channels and drainage kerbs. The proposed test methodology permits for lateral or axial forces transfer from the drainage channel to the kerb. This test is applicable to all types and sizes of drainage kerbs.
Dished channel bricks are a gentle and directional drainage system for surface water within property boundaries. These kerbs are easy to integrate with the surrounding paving and not detract from the overall design. The channel slots allow water to flow through a soakaway. A property boundary can be made more appealing by adding dished channels. These are just a few of the many uses for dished channels.
These products are available in various sizes and shapes. Some even have special projects in mind. Straight units measure 915mm, while radius units measure less. Modern ranges measure 780mm. All kerbs feature a watermark - a line along the face beyond which surfacing is not permitted to extend. The watermark is generally 25mm or greater above the kerb’s surface.
