It is important to measure the width of the concrete edging unit when putting it in place. The minimum width for residential footpaths should be 75mm. For driveways and highways, concrete should be between 100mm to 150mm thick. Compact the concrete to prevent it from cracking as it sets. Smoothen the concrete surface to about 25-50mm below its top.



Support kerbs is achieved by using hunching concrete. Concrete serves two purposes: it holds the kerbstone in its place and provides structural support. A concrete bed is used for hunching concrete. The concrete is then placed in a trench that supports the kerbstone. Concrete is poured and left to set for 4-7 days before being taken out. The kerbs can then be laid and the backfilling completed.
