Do All old houses have mold?

Being a Mold Inspector is something I love. It allows me to help people get rid of mold and improve their quality of life for everyone. Mold can cause anxiety in many people. I help them solve the problem and give them peace of mind about their home.

We use state-of the-art equipment during a mold assessment to determine if there are active or dormant water issues and areas of visible mold growth. We are licensed to collect air samples, swabs, carpet samples, behind the wall (cavity), air samples and many other items. Thermal imaging inspections are another specialty service that we offer. This can help to detect hidden moisture or conditions that may lead to mold growth.

Every one of our highly qualified inspectors has been licensed, certified, trained and certified to provide excellent customer service. What goes into an Elite Mold inspection you ask? Here's a video that highlights Elite Mold services and gives you a glimpse of what happens during an inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Musty Smell If you don't see signs of mold but you can smell it, it may be hidden in your walls. A musty smell indicates that mold is growing in your home. The smell of mold feels earthy, like rotting leaves or decaying wood in a dense, damp forest.

These symptoms usually first appear 2 to 9 hours after exposure and last for 1 to 3 days. Other affected persons have progressive shortness of breath and cough, as well as weight loss. Work-relatedness may only become apparent over long holidays if symptoms resolve and then recur on return to work.

If you go the DIY route while testing for black mold, you will need to purchase a mold testing kit from a hardware or home repair store, take samples of the air and affected areas yourself, and then send these in to a testing facility, which will report back as to which type of mold is present.
