In a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia, Mayen Kur Kuer, the camp leader, said that the clashes were between two rival but neighboring communities of Anyuak and Murle.

The camp chairman said more than 3 people were injured but their injuries were not severe because they fought by hands.

“The inter-communal clashes involved men and women from the communities of Anyuak and Murle. More than 3 people were injured but the injuries were slight because they fought using their hands,” Camp Chairperson said in a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia.

Kur confirmed that a police case has been filed over such incident.

“A case has been opened into the incident. Such feuds among communities have continued for a long time. I have been reporting this to all relevant authorities but there has been no response,” Kur said.

Major General Daniel Justin, the South Sudan National Police Spokesperson, said he has yet to receive a report about the matter.

Mahad IDP Camp is home to about 2,000 displaced people who fled their homes in Jonglei State following the 2013 conflict.
