October 4,2021—South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has traveled to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Abiy Ahmed who won elections with landslide two months ago.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, President Kiir arrives in Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa to participate in the inauguration ceremony of Dr. Abiy Ahmed which took place today, 4th of October 2021.
The press unit of Ethiopian ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed his arrival in the country.
“..H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan has arrived in Addis Ababa today (October 04) to take part in the inauguration ceremony for the establishment of new Ethiopian Government”, the of Ethiopian foreign ministry ready by part.
According to the statement, President Kiir was received upon his arrival by Ethiopian Minister of Education Dr-Ing.Getahun Mekuria and top federal officials.
” Minister of Education, H. E. Dr-Ing. Getahun Mekuria high-level government officials welcomed the president upon his arrival at Bole International Airport”, the statement elaborated.
Dr. Abiy Ahmed was re-elected on 11th of July 2021 despite domestic crisis in his government.
Last month, President Kiir during his state-visit to Ethiopia pledged to mediate the conflict between federal government and Tigray People’s Liberation Front.
