The Port Harcourt division of the Federal High Court has nullified all primary elections of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State with respect to the 2023 general elections.

The state leadership of the party has since 2018 suffered critical internal crises that has cost it its chance at the gubernatorial election.

In a repetition of history like what happened in 2019, the court has disqualified the primary elections of the party following complaints from the faction of former lawmaker Magnus Abe.

Mr Abe pulled out of the primaries earlier in May after accusing the party leadership of conducting the process in a “skewed, biased and prejudiced” manner. He decamped to the Social Democratic Party where he won the governorship ticket but his loyalists challenged APC’s decision in court.
