2027: Nasarawa speaker cautions against early campaigns

The Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has cautioned against early campaigns, saying that the National Independent Electoral Commission ( INEC) had yet to lift the ban on 2027 campaigns in the country.
The speaker stated this when he played host to a political group, Speaker Danladi Jatau KKK 2027 Movement, on Wednesday, in Lafia.
He said that he would answer the calls by individuals and groups to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Keffi/ Karu/ Kokona (KKK) Federal Constituency at an appropriate time.
”On your calls on me to contest for the House of Representatives seat, I am a lawmaker, and the number three citizen of the State. I know the law. INEC has yet to lift the ban on campaigning. So, let us be patient,” he said.
Mr Jatau called for more prayers and support for Gov. Abdullahi Sule to enable his administration to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.
He said that Mr Sule is God’s sent and he will leave Nasarawa State better than he met it, hence the need for the citizens of the state to support him.
Mr Jatau commended them for the love, passion and support they have for him while assuring them of all-inclusive leadership at all times.
“So many calls on me to contest for the House of Representatives seat, just last week over 300 came from my district, some from Karu Local Government Area, among many others.
“I appreciate you for the love and concern you are showing me. When it is the appropriate time, I will answer your calls by God’s grace,” he said.
Earlier, the leader of the group, Bawa Muhammad, said that the movement was a voluntary group targeting massive votes with 100 persons from each ward of the three local government areas,” he said.
He said that the group would mobilise support for the speaker to come out victorious in 2027.
