A Jos magistrates’ court sentenced a 23-year-old trader, Hosea Nandong, to one year imprisonment for illegal possession of hard drugs on Monday.

The convict, who pleaded guilty to the charge before Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos, was summarily tried and sentenced with the option of an N100,000 fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Labaran Ahmed, told the court that the case was reported on June 19 by a group of officers on patrol.

Mr Ahmed said the convict was also into selling hard drugs.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code Law.
