The film won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and two Academy Awards and remains a classic of French cinema.

Born on April 27, 1932, in Paris, Aimée was introduced to the arts at a young age.

Her father, Henri Murray, was an actor, and her mother, Geneviève Sorya, was a stage actress, providing a creative environment that nurtured her early passion for performance. She began acting as a teenager, debuting in the film ‘La Maison sous la mer’ in 1947.

Aimée’s talent quickly drew attention, and she went on to work with some of cinema’s most renowned directors.

In ‘8 1/2’ (1963), Aimée delivered a memorable performance as Luisa, the patient yet jealous wife of Marcello Mastroianni’s character, further solidifying her place in film history.

Throughout her career, Aimée was known for her distinctive looks, deep voice, and magnetic screen presence, earning accolades, including a Golden Globe and a BAFTA.

Beyond her professional achievements, Aimée lived a life marked by passion and resilience. Her personal life was as storied as her film career, with a series of high-profile relationships, including marriages to director Nico Papatakis and actors Edouard Zimmermann and Albert Finney.

Anouk Aimée’s legacy is one of timeless beauty and exceptional talent.
