The Gwagwalada Division of the FCT High Court on Wednesday ordered a 35-year-old herdsman, Adamu Idris, to be remanded in Kuje Prison custody for kidnapping a Bolt driver.

The police charged Mr Idris with two counts of kidnapping.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Justice Aliyu Shafa ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody and adjourned until June 20 for a hearing.

The prosecution counsel, Okokon Udo, told the court that the defendant and others, at large on September 13, 2023, in Galadimawa, Abuja, conspired and kidnapped Siman Yakubu, a Bolt driver of Tungamaje village, FCT.

He said the defendant and his gang demanded N100 million as ransom.

The police said the defendant eventually collected N110,000.
