Abuja man arraigned for allegedly constituting nuisance 

The offences contravene the provisions of section 199 of the Penal Code.

The police on Wednesday, dragged a 38-year-old man, Donatus Danjuma before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Wuse, Abuja for allegedly constituting nuisance despite a court injunction to desist.

The prosecutor, Simpa Ibrahim, alleged that the defendant had been going round various ministries within the Central Business District in Abuja and unlawfully taking valuables belonging to staff and offices.

According to the prosecutor, the defendant had been apprehended on several occasions and warned to desist from such act, but  he failed to comply with the orders.

He further alleged that the defendant was again caught stealing an Android phone at the Federal Ministry of Education during a workshop on April 24.

According to him, the defendant was consequently arrested by the police and charged to court.

The offences contravene the provisions of section 199 of the Penal Code.

The Magistrate, Chioma Agbaza granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million naira, with two reliable sureties in like sum.

The court held that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must provide valid means of identification.

The court held that residential addresses of the sureties must be verified by the court’s registrar. 

The magistrate  adjourned the case until June 15, for trial. (NAN)
