Joseph Anthony has been sentenced to three months’ imprisonment by a Dei-dei Grade I Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday, for stealing a cell phone, power bank and a kettle.

Mr Anthony, 20, who resides in Dei-dei, Abuja, was convicted and sentenced after pleading guilty to theft.

He, however, begged the court for leniency.

The Judge, Saminu Suleiman, gave him an option of N10,000 fine and warned him to desist from committing crimes and be of good behaviour.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Chinedu Ogada, told the court that the complainant, Halima Sani, reported the matter at Byazhin Divisional Headquarters on March 20.

Mr Ogada said that Anthony broke into the complainant’s room and stole her son’s trouser, one Techno cell phone, valued at N8,000, one power bank, worth N6,000 and one kettle, valued at N12,000.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code.
