The Adamawa government says it approved the completion of abandoned electrification projects in seven communities in Gombi LGA.

Information commissioner Neido Geofrey-Kufolto stated in Yola on Wednesday.

She said the contract for the projects was initially awarded at the cost of N44 million in 2007.

The commissioner revealed that the projects were abandoned at a 20 per cent completion stage, after which it was abandoned, saying we would soon complete the project.

“The contract for the project, which was awarded under the State Ministry of Rural Infrastructure and Community Development, would cover Fahar, Bewa, Kaulewa and Gayaku communities.

“The state government reviewed the contract sum from the initial N44 million to N192.67 million with a completion period of twelve months,” she said.

Ms Geofrey-Kufolto said the projects were abandoned due to the high cost of electrification materials, as the amount earmarked for the project cannot be matched.
