ADC chieftain urges FG to improve security in Katsina

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State, Mustapha Inuwa, has urged the federal government to urgently reinforce security in vulnerable communities.
Mr Inuwa, in a statement on Friday, condemned the attack on Unguwan Mantau community, where about 30 worshippers were killed in a mosque during morning prayers two days earlier.
“As the leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State, I extend condolences to the victims’ families, Unguwan Mantau, and all those affected.
“This barbaric act is not only an attack on individuals but also an assault on our collective peace, faith, and shared humanity.
“The fact that such violence occurred in a mosque—a sanctuary of peace—demonstrates the utter depravity of the perpetrators.
“I strongly condemn this atrocity and demand that the authorities take immediate and decisive action to bring the culprits to justice,” he said.
He urged the federal government to treat banditry in the North-West with the same urgency as insurgency in the North-East, adopting military and socio-economic strategies.
“The government must deploy additional security personnel to vulnerable communities like Unguwan Mantau and ensure proactive measures to prevent future attacks,” he insisted.
Mr Inuwa also called for immediate relief and psychological support for bereaved families, while urging government officials to visit the community to show empathy and solidarity.
He encouraged residents of Katsina State to remain united and resilient in the face of such attacks.
“Let us support one another and work together to protect our communities. We must also hold our leaders accountable at every level,” he added.
He reminded citizens that the forthcoming elections present an opportunity to elect leaders who prioritise security and justice over hollow promises.
Mr Inuwa prayed to Allah to grant mercy to the departed, strength to the bereaved families, and healing to the injured.
