Some football fans in Abuja have cautioned the Super Eagles against underrating Angola when they meet in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-final in Cote d`Ivoire.

The fans, who spoke with reporters on Monday in Abuja, said the Angolans would rely on their previous triumphs against the Eagles going into the match.

Nigeria defeated Cameroon 2-0 in round 16 to reach the quarter-final stage.

Shettima Ibrahim, a footballer, expressed confidence in the team’s ability to continue their impressive performance in the tournament.

“The Eagles were firm in their performance against the indomitable Lions and we look forward to the quarter-finals with high expectations to defeat Angola.

“I am confident that the Super Eagles will be victorious once again against Angola. They were dedicated, resilient and united in that game,” he said.

Victor Adewunmi, another footballer, urged the Eagles to rekindle the spirit used to play the Cameroonians.

“I commended the resilient spirit exhibited by the players, and I am optimistic they will get to the finals and lift the trophy,” he said.

Kudus Onimisi, a football instructor, said Cameroon was a tough side, and the game brought out the best in the Super Eagles. We want them to continue with this zeal.

He urged the technical crew of the Super Eagles to continue formations and tactics that would give the team victory against their opponents.

Nkechi Obi urged the Eagles to up their game against Angola and should avoid being complacent when they take to the pitch on Friday.

Phillip Omole, a football coach, said the team’s commitment to excellence and unity was evident in their game against Cameroon.

He urged them to replicate or surpass their performance against the Lions of Cameroon.

“I just want the Super Eagles to maintain the standard and never fall. I believe they have upped their game. I believe that with this new approach, they can lift the trophy,” he said.

The Super Eagles will confront Angola’s Palancas Negras in the quarter-final on Friday at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, at 6:00 p.m.
