Some football fans in Abuja on Sunday urged the Super Eagles to go for goals to overcome Guinea Bissau to qualify comfortably for the round of 16 at the ongoing 2023 Africa cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

The Super Eagles will play Guinea Bissau on Monday in their last group A match at the ongoing AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire. The group included Côte d’Ivoire (host), Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria.

The three-time African champion played 1-1 with Equatorial Guinea in their opening game and defeated the host, Côte d’Ivoire 1-0 the second game.

Some of the fans during an interview said that the players should be focused and committed to avoid any permutation.

One of them who is a football administrator, Bamidele Bamigboye, said that the Super Eagles should make Nigerians proud by beating Guinea-Bissau on Monday.

Mr Bamigboye said, “Super Eagles should create a renewed hope atmosphere by beating Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau to qualify for the next round comfortably. This will make Nigerians happy and once again to have hope and trust in the country’s national team.’’

On his part, a football enthusiast, Suleiman Mohammed, said that Nigeria’s attack should be sharper to convert their chances.

“The players must justify their inclusion in the team by scoring as many goals as possible. The victory over Cote D ivoire is done and dusted, we should not underrate Guinea-Bissau. They can cause an upset,” he said.

Emeka Okeke, a viewing center operator, said that Super Eagles of Nigeria should go all out and avoid understating Guinea-Bissau.

Mr Okeke said Guinea-Bissau would want to fight for glory by winning or at least getting a point to save their face.

A football analyst, Bilikisi Mohammed, said that she was optimistic the Super Eagles would grab a win.

“We are hoping that the Super Eagles will consolidate by beating Guinea-Bissau,” she said.

A footballer, Nnamidi Obi, said that the technical crew still have a lot of work to do if the team is to make it to the final.

He urged them to maintain a closed defence line as they did against Cote d’ Ivoire, adding that they must play with the intention to score goals.

The Nigerian side will confront the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau in the final group A match slated for stade Felix Houphouet – Boigny (Abidjan) on Monday by 6pm.(Nigerian time).
