The Eggon Youths Movement (EYM) has condemned the gruesome murder of Zakari Kigbu, a one-time National Commissioner of National Population Commission (NPC), by gunmen and revealed that the assailants abducted two daughters of the deceased.

Godwin Dugga, national president of EYM, condemned the killing in a statement in Jos.

Kigbu, a one-time national president of the Eggon Cultural Development Association (ECDA) was murdered on Sunday. The killers also abducted his two daughters.

Mr Dugga, who decried the spate of killings and kidnapping in the state, called on the government and security forces to intensify efforts toward addressing the menace.

”We wake up to the sad news of the murder of our leader, teacher, elder statesman, politician and grassroots community mobiliser and the abduction of his two daughters. We are saddened by the spate of attacks, killings, and abduction of Eggon notable sons and daughters, as well as other residents of Nasarawa state,” the group said.

The youths added, ”The killings and abduction of innocent citizens have become a recurring decimal in almost all parts of the state and this is not good for our dear state. We call on the state government and the security agencies to intensify efforts toward arresting the perpetrators and be made to face the full wrath of the law. This will serve as a deterrent to others.”

They also urged the government to desist from paying lip service and “be deliberate in addressing the increasing rate of killings, kidnapping, and other forms of insecurity in the state.”

The group advised Nasarawa residents to be law-abiding and support security agencies.
