The Africa Green Economy and Sustainability Institute (AGESI), on Thursday, launched a new set of programmes, designed to equip leaders across the African continent on the need to transition into green economy.

In a statement by its programme director, Folake Anjorin, the institute said its 2026 Executive Training Catalogue initiative was created to provide decision makers across the continent with strategic tools to lead and make the best use of economic and geopolitical opportunities.

The institute stated that its curriculum for the programme was “practice-driven,” and focused on “leadership pillar” in orientation.

“The global economy is being reshaped by a transition of historic proportions. For Africa, this is not merely an environmental challenge, but the defining economic and geopolitical opportunity of our generation,” Mrs Anjorin stated.

According to the institute, the 2026 schedule designed for senior officials such as cabinet ministers, chief executives and investment leaders will feature 16 week-long modules, offered both in-person at the institute’s campus in Lagos and virtually.

Stating its importance, the institute’s Chief of Patrons, Babatunde Alo, stressed that each programme was designed to meet the realities of African governance, finance, industry and community development.

“It brings together global expertise and African experience to prepare leaders who can navigate complexity, negotiate from a position of strength, and deliver results that endure,” Mr Alo said.

Commenting, AGESI’s Executive Director, Eugene Itua, stated that the newly launched courses “are immersive, practice-oriented, and grounded in the challenges our leaders face every day, from climate finance and industrial policy to natural capital valuation, urban resilience, and inclusive governance”.

The director added that each module would strengthen decision-making, sharpen strategic thinking and build the confidence required to lead transformative change.

“We do not import models; we co-create solutions that work for Africa’s unique context and aspirations,” Mr Itua said.

Some of the courses included in the programme are, “The Green Economy: A Strategic Imperative; Green Finance & Climate Budgeting: From Strategy to Execution; Sustainable Aviation & Green Transport: Policy for a Connected Continent.”

Others are “Blue Economy Strategy: Maritime Governance & Ocean Wealth; and High-Stakes Negotiation: Strategy & Deal-Making for National Development.”

The institute, however, noted that participants who complete three courses in the new programme would be eligible for an AGESI executive certificate.

It added that a 15 per cent discount also applied to advance registrations, while a group discount of 10 per cent was also guaranteed for teams of three or more from the same organisation.
