Cristiano Ronaldo might have moved away from European club football when he decided to sign for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr in a record deal ever signed in sports history up to €200 million per year until 2025, the play is not yet over for the Portuguese international.

It happens that there is a clause in Ronaldo’s contract with Al Nassr that may allow him to play in Europe real soon, with a Spanish media outlet, Marca, reporting an agreement between the Real Madrid legend and Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, who owns Premier League club, Newcastle United.

The clause in the contract allows Ronaldo to join Newcastle United on loan, given the Premier League club qualify for the UEFA Champions League, with The Magpies, who are currently sitting third on the league table, looking to pull off a top-four finish this season.

It would give Ronaldo the rare opportunity to defend several of his records in the UEFA Champions League; he holds the all-time leading scorer in the continental competition with 140 goals, with only 11 goals ahead of Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo is also the all-time leading appearance maker in the Champions League, with 183 in total cut across three clubs, including Manchester United (59), Real Madrid (101) and Juventus (23).
