ANOCA: Nigeria to host second African school games

The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa has awarded Nigeria the hosting of the second edition of the African School Games, scheduled for 2027.
Mustapha Berraf, president of ANOCA, announced the award in a letter addressed to Habu Gumel, president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, dated August 5.
The maiden edition of the African School Games was held in Anaba, Algeria, between July 24 and August 5.
A copy of the letter said ANOCA reached the decision at its Extraordinary Executive Committee Meeting.
The continental body of the African Olympic Movement expressed confidence that the NOC, in collaboration with the Nigerian government, would demonstrate the highest level of commitment, capacity, and hospitality to organise a successful event.
“We are confident that the 2027 edition will not only uphold the values and objectives of the African School Games but also match or surpass the success of the maiden edition held in 2025.
“ANOCA remains available to provide technical support and guidance throughout the preparatory process to ensure the success of this continental youth sporting celebration.
“Please accept our heartfelt congratulations and assurances of our highest sporting regards,” Mr Berraf said.
