“The former senator that led the group is a member of NNPP. He left APC sometime ago but has decided to come back to cause trouble for us.”

The All Progressives Congress in Bauchi says the alleged suspension of its party chairman, Babayo Misau, is null and void.

Some APC chieftains made the party’s position known in an interview on Tuesday in Abuja and accused a former party member of masterminding the suspension.

Mr Misua said his suspension was announced by Ibrahim Lawan, who claimed to be the party’s chairman at the Kukadu Kundari ward, Misau council area.

“I am not aware of the said suspension. An unknown group announced it. The so-called ward chairman who made the announcement is just an impostor who was never elected,” stated the embattled APC chair in Bauchi.

He added, “We heard he was the arrowhead that mobilised and brought some unknown people to Abuja to announce that I had been suspended. That was against the party constitution because the APC chairman of Misua LGA was not even aware.”

Similarly, the chairman of APC in Misau local council, Ahmad Maigari, said the purported suspension of Mr Misau was a plan to destroy APC in Bauchi.

According to him, a former APC senator decamped to NNPP and was seen going around with a governorship candidate, Abubakar Sadiq, during the campaign.

“We later got information that he masterminded the organisation of some group to announce the suspension of the state chairman of APC without following due process,” stated Mr Maigari.

He described allegations against the party chairman as untrue and claimed the party won the election but rigged in favour of Governor Bala Mohammed.

“We also heard that the so-called ward chairman and two others that made the illegal announcement of the purported suspension were paid N300,000 each to orchestrate that evil act,” he said.

Similarly, the APC chairman of the Kukadu Gundari ward of Misau LGA, Baba Yerima Iman, alleged that the group that announced the suspension is unknown to APC.

According to him, the group is a breakaway faction of the APC in the ward.

“The former senator that led the group is a member of NNPP. He left APC sometime ago but has decided to come back to cause trouble for us using the other faction. They know they will not succeed in such an illegal endeavour if they try to use me against the state chairman, so they use the other faction,” Mr Imam explained.

He stated, “As a ward chairman, I am not aware of the suspension; I was not informed until they executed the evil plan.”

On Saturday, Mr Lawan, who claimed to be the APC chairman of Kukadu Gundari ward, where the state APC chairman hailed from, announced the state chairman’s suspension on allegations of anti-party activities.
