The deputy national chairman of APC (South), Emma Eneukwu, has hailed the Supreme Court judgement affirming the re-election of Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo.

Mr Eneukwu spoke against the backdrop of Friday’s judgement of the apex court during an interactive session with journalists in Enugu.

He said, “The Supreme Court has vindicated the deep love and strong support from the vast majority of Imo to our great party.”

A five-member panel of the apex court, in a lead judgement delivered by Justice Mohammed Idris, dismissed the appeal filed by PDP and its governorship candidate in the Nov. 11, 2023 poll, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, “for lacking in merit”.

The court also dismissed the appeal by LP and its candidate, Athan Achonu, for being “unmeritorious”.

A visibly excited Mr Eneukwu said, “Supreme Court is on point on its pronouncement on the PDP and LP appeals and we did not expect anything less.”

He said that the hard work, massive projects and accomplishments of the governor endeared him to the people.

According to him, the massive road construction Mr Uzodimma’s administration has done in the length and breadth of Imo remains unprecedented in the history of the state.

“Please discountenance the unfounded claims of the opposition parties. If they re-contest the election with Uzodimma as APC flagbearer ten times, APC will emerge victorious in all.

“I have been on ground in Imo for a while and attended functions with our amiable governor, and each time, I experience a mammoth crowd reception, deep show of love and appreciation of the residents,” Mr Eneukwu said.

He urged Imo residents to sustain their support for Mr Uzodimma’s administration, saying that “more dividend of democracy and projects will be coming their way”.

“I will advise our brothers in the opposition parties to join the party of the people and a winning party.

“It is time members of the opposition parties joined the progressives’ party, APC, and move along to a great future,” Mr Eneukwu further said.
