APC Primary: Gov Sani secures second term ticket with 459,393 affirmation votes

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election after securing 459,393 affirmation votes during the party’s primary election held on Thursday.
Governor Sani, who contested as the sole aspirant, recorded a landslide affirmation victory following endorsement by party delegates and stakeholders across the state.
The primary election, monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), attracted top APC leaders, elected officials, delegates and supporters from across Kaduna State.
Announcing the result, Chairman of the Kaduna APC Governorship and House of Assembly Primary Election Committee, Hon. Hafiz Kawu, described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and a strong demonstration of unity and confidence in Governor Uba Sani’s leadership ahead of the 2027 general election.
The adoption of the affirmation votes was moved by the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Liman, and unanimously endorsed by delegates at the venue.
Speaking after his affirmation, Governor Uba Sani thanked APC members, stakeholders and the people of Kaduna State for their confidence in his leadership, describing the endorsement as a renewed mandate for service and inclusive development.
The governor said his administration had recorded notable progress in security, peacebuilding and unity through sustained dialogue and community engagement, leading to improved stability and social harmony across the state.
“We have strengthened peace, promoted unity and expanded development across both urban and rural communities. From education and infrastructure to road rehabilitation and people-centered projects, our focus has remained on improving the lives of citizens,” he said.
Governor Sani assured residents that his administration would consolidate on the gains already recorded and sustain efforts towards building a more secure, prosperous and united Kaduna State ahead of 2027.
The affirmation further consolidates Governor Uba Sani’s growing influence within the APC and signals increasing cohesion within the ruling party ahead of the general election.
