The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau has resolved to participate in the October 9 local government elections, its acting publicity secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, has disclosed.

Mr Bamaiyi, in a statement, said that the decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the party held on Monday in Jos.

Mr Bamiyi stated that in the meeting presided over by the state chairman, Rufus Bature, the party agreed that it would participate “if the state independent electoral commission will be impartial”.

The spokesperson disclosed that the dates for the primaries and the process were adopted in line with the APC constitution.

“The meeting also fixed realistic fees for the expressions of interest and nomination forms, taking into consideration the economic challenges of the times.

“The meeting further decided that the conduct of the primaries should be as democratic as possible in order to avoid rancour and resentment.

“The sale of forms is to start on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024,” he announced.

According to Mr Bamaiyi, the meeting was attended by members of the state working and executive committees as well as other stakeholders.
